Abstract Art Two years into Abstract painting, I now lean into mistakes. We NEED to make mistakes to learn and grow. What a relief!
I’ve developed a process that is really fun. I start with play, to loosen up and build up layers of paint that also creates a history and texture. I begin my designs on grid paper then, draw a grid on my painted substrate, to help transfer my design. I clarify my design with value and color. This is where mistakes, discovery and change happens.
My paintings are bold in color and value. I use geometric shapes, overlapping patterns and colors to create my design. I love optical illusions. I create problems to solve, and that process of solving problems is the fun! It’s that experience for me.
